What is the Tourism Northern Ireland project?
TNI is the tourism board of Northern Ireland. For them we have to make inviting videos, blogs and photography for their social media. 2 videos and 2 blogs to be exact. There are 2 journeys, the first one is a Causeway Coast rambler. The second one is a weekend to Derry ~ Londonderry and Portrush. This is a day in the life of filming in Portrush.
Start of the day
We meet in the office around 9:30 where we will start with making a schedule for the film day. We discuss which clips we want to take that day and where we go first. After the meeting, we call the business where we want to go and ask them for permission to film. When that is arranged, off we go.
Filming
As part of the program we have our own bike. We take a bike and go to our first film spot, Ramore Head. From here we had to film the view and, later that day, the sunset. Ramore Head is a beautiful place to go for a peaceful walk with an amazing view and fresh air, perfect to relax. The best thing of Portrush is that everything is walking distance. After that we go to our second film spot the Shanty, a cosy restaurant where they serve delicious food. They also have an amazing wine list, complementing a great meal.
Finish
When we are done filming, we have to edit all the clips together to make one good video.Cut the less important parts out and add text to inform the viewers. Finally search for a good inviting song, so people keep watching. After the video is done we make a proposal document and send it to TNI with the video. Our work for the day is done.
Evening
Of course the day is not over yet, so after a good day of work we go and relax at Kiwi’s brew bar. We play some darts or pool, or even watch a game of football on the big screen.
Ending
This was a day working on the project. There are a lot of skills we learn by doing this. Like making the perfect videos, learning how to edit the clips to an excellent video. Of course as a Belgian student my English is not perfect, but during all this time my English improves in all sorts of ways. Like writing, understanding and even speaking gets better. Thanks to good teamwork and team spirit, this all comes to a good end.
